Everything at Camino Farms grows together with the help of wonderful volunteers just like you.

General Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers may support camp programs by assisting with activities and transitions, help create a welcoming environment through hospitality roles like serving meals and greeting guests, or contribute to the care of our campus through light maintenance, gardening, and event support. Whether you’re an individual, family, student, or part of a group, these opportunities are designed to meet you where you are—inviting you to lend a hand while being part of something deeply purposeful.

Camino Companions

The Camino Companion Program is a unique volunteer opportunity for individuals ages 15–29 to walk alongside participants—primarily individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—during Camino’s signature camp weeks. Companions are paired 1:1 and fully participate in the experience, from sports and activities to meals and community time, offering friendship, encouragement, and support throughout the week. More than a volunteer role, being a Camino Companion is about showing up with presence, building genuine relationships, and helping create an environment where every individual feels seen, valued, and a true sense of belonging.

When you have a child with complex healthcare needs , it can be hard not to worry about them. No matter the level of care a Camper needs, our Med Team is ready to care for them in every way possible.  We have a full medical facility with doctors, nurses, assistants, and interns who are ready to assist whenever needed. Our Med Team’s compassionate and diligent support ensures Campers and volunteers receive loving care, grants parents peace of mind, and allows everyone to wholeheartedly embrace the pure and boundless joy of camp.

If you know of a Camper who has care needs and are unsure if Camino Farms is the right fit, or if you would like to join us on the Med Team, contact Katrina Keating Ernst, Executive Director (katrinakeating@caminofarmsPA.org).

  • Physicians play a vital role at camp each week by caring for the wide range of medical issues that may arise during camp sessions. Physicians are on call to evaluate campers, supervise medical procedures, prescribe medication, and perform treatments. Otherwise, they join camp activities and have a fun-filled week at camp! Physicians must be licensed to practice in their state.

  • Healthcare professionals keep our Campers, Missionaries, and Staff well cared for each week at camp by distributing daily medications, providing necessary procedures, and responding to campers and staff drop-in visits. Nurses and providers must have an unencumbered, compact state license.

  • Our Medical Team also includes Healthcare Assistant. This position is for adults 18 years and up. It is for hard-working individuals who are passionate about supporting a very busy campus and keeping germs at bay! Duties include: keeping bunkhouses sparkling clean and in order, helping the Medical Team with any other process/flow needs as assigned, entertaining Campers, and keeping spirits high for those who may need to spend more time in the Nurse’s Suite due to medical necessity.

  • Psychiatrists, PsyD's, LPC's, and LCSW's provide support to everyone at camp using stress management tools that have been created for the summer, as well as clinical expertise.
